hi,
i've got a similar problem like that guy had:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...lm=33b1e3ae.8849708%40news.wave.co.nz&rnum=25

(error reading fixed disk) but i didnt understood the solution in that
tread.(im form austria)
i have winxp recovery version and i wanted to format my hdd (aprox
80gb)
so i entered "fdisk", deleded my primary partition (i only had c
before) and created 3 new partitions c: (~40gb) d: (~40gb) and e:
(~2gb).
i think, i forgot to activate my c partiation, could that be possible?
im not sure because i'm a little rookie. maybe u can help me. i would
be really glad because now i cant install xp again and i only can
format C: and D: but NOT E: or do fdisk again -> "error reading fixed
disk"!

maybe its importan: if i enter "fdisk /status" , i get this output:

E

You should not use fdisk with Win 2K/XP. Just create a 32GB partition during
XP setup and the rest later.

Fdisk is showing an 11GB disk because of its bug. Is fdisk or format showing
the "error ..." message? It sounds like the extended partitions have invalid
pointers, or maybe an Int13 bug.
