error onpening other users inbox folder

I am a delegate on a user pc to review his inbox. he is currently running
Office 2003. when I go to File, open and other user's folder and choose the
user I have rights to view there inbox I get the following error message (
cannot display the folder. Microsoft exchange is not available. Either there
are network problems or the Exchange computer is down for maintenance.) I am
running Office 2007 beta.

the weird thing is that I made the same person a delegate to my inbox same
permission and he is able to view my inbox. it’s like office 2007 is not
forward compatible not backward compatible.

Not forward compatible to what? Outlook 2010? Your compatibility remark
doesn't make much sense.

Also the Outlook version of the other user doesn't matter at all as you
connect to Exchange. When you use an Outlook 2003 client can you connect to
the other mailbox then?

Actually i found out my own answer.
for a minute i thought that outlook 2007 was not backward compatiable.

I thought that outlook 2007 would not alow you to view any other users
folders from previous version of outlook.

and what i meant to say in my previous statement is that it appread that
outlook 2007 was not backward compatible with previous versions of outlook
but outlook 2003 was forward compatiable with 2007. i thougth that was weird
beign that i am running a beta version i thought it was a function that was
not added to outlook 2007 but that was not the case.

Thanks for your response.
