error on addresses

When I double click on the "To" to select an address, I
get the following error: "Can't contact LDAP Directory
server(81)" What does that mean?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Jim the Ref asked:
