I am trying to sync Outlook on my iPAQ with my Laptop. However I keep
getting an error message that windows can not find a file
511974.mainsp3ff.msp. My iPAQ won't sync without this file. Any suggestions?

If You have Outlook installation CD then opt for Help | select Detect &
Repair followed by restarting the system.

SSG, Thanks for your suggestion. However, Outlook was installed on my
company PC using the "wonderful" disk which Microsoft provides for the
corporate environment. One can't repair and detect any Office 2003 problems,
without having the CD's (which I have) AND the registration key numbers
(which MIS has). Getting MIS to respond in a large company is sometiems
difficult. Esp. if they don't have the correct *.msp file on their set of
CD's. I understand why Microsoft does this, to prevent piracy. But this
message is really annoying. It occurs EVERY time I turn on or restart the
computer. IT would just be simple, and nice, for all of us if Microsoft
would provide these *.MSP files. I mean that would be unheard of...actually
getting Customer Service!

I'd still like to know if anyone has any ideas on this. It seems to be a
'common' occurance for some of us using XP. I googled "511974 error msg,"
and came up with a lot of queries, (eg. http://forums.techarena.in/archive,
tech-archive.net, and others. But no solutions. ONe suggestion says to use
the Windows Installer Clean-up Utility. That does NOT reassure me of any fix.
Why can't we just get the file?? Any MVP's out there have an idea?
Thanks
