error messages

I am unable to log onto several web based game sites, I keep getting;
"Internet Explore has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've gotten
a siilar message when attempting to pay a game after I have installed it on
my coputer, such as; "Civil War has encountered a problem and needs to
close." Sending Error Reports results in negative responses. I have all XP
updates that I know of except Service Pack 2 which I uninstalled due to
problems with y dsl wireless connection.
I have eliminated all possible spyware, empty temp file as well as Temp
Internet File.
Any help will be appriciated. Please bare in mind that I am a newbie to the
computer world.

Open internet explorer go to tools up top scroll down to internet options
click on it. When opened go to advanced tab and scroll down, do you see
either 'Java' and if so what name, also do you see Microsoft VM.
If neither are there then you need to install
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp follow instruction under step one
windows manually read first and then follow instructions, it is free.
This will solve your problems. Then install sp2 it a must.and download
Microsoft beta anti spyware its free and excellent

Microsoft VM is present, Java Console and Java logging present but both were
uncheked. I checked both, problem still present. Downloaded Java as you
suggested, error messages still occur. Downloaded Service Pack 2 and spyware.
The error messages seem to be occurring more. Attempted to donwload shockwave
player, "Internet Explorer encounter some problems needs to shut down".
Similar message appears when attempting to load games on my computer, non web
games.

occurred from service pack two they will FIX it for you free of charge good
luck from here the number u need to call is 1-888-772 4357

First, be sure your antivirus software has the latest definitions and run a
virus scan.

Also, download, install and run Ad Aware:
www.lavasoftusa.com

If your system is clear of viruses and any malware, open Control Panel, open
Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, look for
errors corresponding to the crash, double click the error, the information
contained within may give a clue as to the
source of the problem.

Assuming you have an XP CD and not a recovery CD, place the XP CD in the
drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility,"
the report it generates may point to problem hardware or software on your
system. If you do not have an XP CD, you can download this application
known as the Upgrade Advisor from the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/advisor.asp
Note: If you have access to a broadband connection it might be best to
download using that as this is a rather large download.

Check for the latest drivers for your hardware, especially your graphics
card and soundcard and all peripherals connected to your system. No not use
Windows Update for this, go to the device manufacturer's web sites and if
you install updated drivers, ignore the message about drivers being unsigned
by Microsoft.

Followed all you suggestions; No virus, no spyware, found numerous errors in
Event View but as a novice, I couldn't make heads nor tails of any. My
Windows program is included on a Recovery Disk. Downloaded Upgrade Advisory,
would not run, "You already have the latest Windows Edition". Downloaded all
latest drivers from Toshiba Web Site, problem still present. Message pops up

In Viewer, look for errors that seem to correspond with when you went to
these sites. Double click the error, click the third button down, that will
copy the error, then paste the error in the message so we can see it and
perhaps we can then help diagnose what is going on.

Do you know if your system's graphics card is sharing memory with main
system memory and how much memory is allocated to the card? Typically, it's
64MB and that is often not enough for today's memory intensive games.
Online gaming brings in an additional set of resource demands so, if your
computer falls into that category, even if it has a card with it's own
memory (you should be able to get this information from the documentation
for your system or from the PC manufacturer's website) such might be the
cause of the problem.

In this case, it's not a question of the minimum requirements of the game,
rather it is not only the type of memory but also the fact you are running
Windows XP, an extremely graphics intensive operating system. Games place
huge demands on the system, especially the graphics card, combine that with
the demand simply to run XP and you have quite a demand load scenario.

You're problems all indicate a problem related to games. Online gaming can
take more resources because other processes and applications come into play.
I can't say positively, but the errors you have posted along with the types
of applications involved seem to indicate a system that is choking on the
demands being made on it.

Just an after thought are you using a router?????
Also have you rebooted your modem, assuming you have high speed connection.
