Look in Event Viewer for the error report and tell us the Event ID and

Make an exact note of the precise text of any error message. Minor
discrepancies can
make it harder to search for information about the error message.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,

When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two

Hi,

Is this early in the boot before Windows even loads? Or after it has
started? If it's early in the boot, called the system POST, then the problem
lies in the system BIOS code. The error is telling you that things don't add
up - literally, actually. If it's in the POST, then you need to either
reflash the BIOS (meaning the existing instruction set experienced
corruption) or flash it with an updated set of instructions.

It is probably not as severe as needing to replace the motherboard
unless there are other issues that haven't been described. Normally all
that one has to do for this error is replace the small motherboard
battery. Most m/b's use a round coin-type battery that costs around $3
USD to replace.

*Highly* unlikely. In all probability, all that's needed is to
replace the battery.
