| What does it mean when you boot up and everything on the
| desk top shows up and then it shows a X and then states
| windows is shuting down. I have never seen this error
| message. What does it mean. Is it a driver problem or what?

I agree with Steve,
I does sound like a virus intrusion.
Also, since the "X" is called "the place holder" it indicates that IE is
having the issues
with reading the graphhic files used to populate the desktop.
You may also want to look at 2 addition action items....
1. update your video drive for the latest version.
2. run this quick update to re-register some key DLLs for the browser and
IE...
This is how we fix this.
