Error Messages 36 and 1

I get these two messages when using Photoshop. "Disk Error - 36 while reading or writing virtual memory file - sorry, but this error is fatal" and the same one after that "Disk Error - 1 while etc." I have 256 RAM and memory should be no problem. Ran defrag and SFC... still get these messages. Also ran compatability check for program. This problem started after defrag. Help anyone????

which you should explore; however, the first place to go is

I can't tell you anything about these error messages, but I
wanted to comment on your statement "I have 256 RAM and memory
should be no problem." On the contrary, 256MB is very little for
running an application like Photoshop.
