error message

I keep getting this error message when updating my E-mail
how can i prevent it HELP
"The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Server: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

Why would this help for an _inbound_ connection? Look at the error again:

"The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Server: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

This is a connection to port 110 of the POP server. That means incoming,
not outgoing.
