When i close the IE6 browser i get the message "This program has performed an
illegal operation and will be shut down"! Details>> EXPLORER caused an
invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:028692ef.

I have tried reinstalling my windows 98SE but this does not solve the problem.

First eliminate any spyware.

You need to provide more details about what you are doing and
seeing.

For a guess I would suppose that you have a popup blocker active
which is suppressing the little menu which is the main difference between
using the New button versus using the Reply button.

Are you getting that far or further? We are not psychics! ;o
Please describe in detail what you are seeing and somebody
may be able to help you.

BTW do you really need to use this interface?
Unless you are prohibited from using a real NNTP newsreader
you would be much better off using one and forgetting about
your problems with posting using this interface. Keep using
this interface to browse with because its retention period is
longer and its search, although not great, is still better than
a search with, e.g., Outlook Express.

Notice also the link "Newsgroup Setup Instructions" which you should
follow before trying to post using that interface. Essentially what you
are doing there is some personalizing so others can identify your posts.
Unfortunately the page doesn't issue a similar caveat about privacy
that you were given before requesting your name and E-mail address
for posting on the web interface; so I will do that now--be warned!
