This message came up when I "attempted' to start my
computer this morning....

"Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt: \Winnt\System32\Config\System"

I have no idea why this message popped up. I tried the
start up CD to repair, but can't figure out what or how to
do it!!

If anyone has ever had this problem or has any suggestions
please help!!

The error message indicates a corrupted system registry.

A Repair Install is a good idea. See the following website for the
instructions.
