Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

Hi
I tried everything to overcome these error messages in WM and Windows Live
Mail. All the suggestions in this area failed UNTIL...
Hooray. I went into my webmail account (Tiscali) and got them to check and
resend to me the password related to the account that was promting the error
messages. This they did and MAGIC - it cured the problem. If you are still
having problems, do try this. This is on the basis that the e-mail has to
pass through your ISP first before it gets to WM; testing the webmail is a
short and easy first step rather than fiddling with uninstalling Nortons and
re-installing Nortons, etc etc.

Agreed. If you're not 100% sure you have the correct password, test it
with webmail.
