I hate to say it, but I could not find any reference to either the error
code or error msg in our database, including customer cases, so would hazard
a guess that it is either something that hasn't been seen by us in the last
4 years, or it's an error msg being generated by a 3rd party product etc
which is not that uncommon, and often look like a "windows" error msg.

Hi I got the same problem on my computer running ME. I read in anothe
forum that the individual ran a movie that didn't play and he has ha
the problem since. So it might be related to a movie program. I'
running an ATI Radeon video and suspect something in the drivers o
associated programs (movie player) for this card. Hope this helps.

Hai Marc,

Well, it's clear now that it's a trojan, hade one myself at W'95 an
removed it succesfully with AntiVir V6.0 a free (resident) scanne
collectable for free at the site of AntiVir : http://www.free-av.com

Trojan is deleted at installation !

Good luck ! Rob ([email protected]

I am running Windows ME and started getting the same message afte
trying to load a new software package on my laptop.

After starting the install, Windows gave me several error message
about files that were missing. As it turned out, the laptop had a
unauthorized copy of ME installed (bought it used) and I purchased
copy of ME and wrote over the current OS.

After the failed attempted install, I started getting this message
"Error 38427 a valid .dll file could not be found Windows is deletin
the file".

This message continued even after the fresh copy of the OS wa
installed and now my software package was complaining that the softwar
which failed to install was indeed installed on my laptop and that
would need to remove the earlier version before I could install thi
version.

Long story short, I used regedit to edit the Windows registry to fin
and delete the partially installed software. Then, all was fine, or s
I thought, after I finally installed the software.

I was still getiing the error message until this evening when I fire
the laptop up after changing the Desktop Wallpaper. The error i
gone!

I have no idea if changing the wallpaper had anything to do with th
error message, I just know that the error message went away. And BTW
both wallpapers are part of the ME package inside Windows... not
third party vendor.

I hope this helps
