Error message while booting

Occasionally when my computer is starting up, before the
Windows XP screen shows up I get the message "Boot
failure system halted," and it will stay there until I
restart the computer.

Could anyone tell me why this happens? Is there a problem
I need to fix? My computer is only one week old so I
can't imagine I've screwed it up already. (!)
 
Hi Laura,

Probably a hardware fault if it occurs that early in the boot. Use your
warranty service (that's what it's there for). You may need to have
something replaced.
