When logging on WinXP under my user name, I get an error
message that says "msvc32i MFC Application has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for inconvenience"

This does not cause my computer to shut down, but is
annoying in that this message appears every time I log
on. How can I fix this?

Some program or service that is starting with Windows is failing. You
need to find out what it is. Go to Start>Run and type "msconfig"
without the quotes. Look for something that might be related to the
error message and uncheck the box. If you aren't sure what something
is, post back for more help. Here are two good sites to learn about
programs that may start in Windows and XP services:

Also, be sure you are running a current antivirus program and keeping
the definitions updated.
