error message VXDMGR32.exe

when I log lately I get the fatal red X circle and grey
box with an error message to the effect windows tried to
load or could not fing the vxdmgr32.exe file??
do not know what this means or what to do? any advice
would greatly be appreciated and feel free to email me.

No such file in WinXP. You may have a virus. :>(

Vxdmgr32 is not an XP component. IIRC it was a tool available for
administrators on Win98 systems, for updating multiple machines' copies
of the VMM32.VXD library . Start - Run - type in MSconfig.exe and look
in its Startup for a line that invokes it - uncheck the line.

It *may* have got onto your machine as a virus or spyware item mimicking
a plausible sounding file for windows to have. It maybe showing up
because that has been removed by an AV program, but the calling line
left; but I would do a thorough AV and spyware check as well.
