I started the recovery disk for my HP 513n desktop to get it back to factory
specs and the following error message occured:
<windows root>\system 32\hal.dll
File missing or corrupt please re-install.
How do I find this file to re-install? My computer will not open any
windows, it only goes to a black screen with the above error message.

Following is a list of articles that deal with this error message, however
since you have a recovery disk and not an XP installation disk, you may need
to contact HP support to resolve this problem.
