Error Message - "Method not valid without suitable object"

A colleague has been having problems with the above error message. He is
trying to perform an export from Access to Excel which was working fine until
he went to lunch, and now he keeps receiving the above message. Neither of
us haev ever seen it before, and can't find any info on the web. Anyone any
ideas?
