I receive the "Messaging Interface has returned an unknown error" error
message. I am running Outlook 2007 and Vista Business. As soon as I
highlight a message in my Inbox, I get this error message and I can't do
anything with the message, other than go to the webmail of my server.l The
message appears on virually all junk email, and on about 1/3 of the email
that arrives in my Inbox. If person "X" sends me an email, sometimes X's
emails will result in the error message, other times it won't. I have read
what I can from the Microsoft Knowledge Base, have tried some other sites and
communities, but of no help. I've removed some junk mail filter updates
(helped a bit), removed all my deleted emails, archived my inbox to make it
smaller, run the Inbox repair tool (which indicated it made some repairs),
and nothing appears to work.

It is far too frustrating and time consuming, and if I don't get this
resolved by the end of the week I'm simply going to find another email client.

I have not reinstalled Outlook. I will NOT reinstall Office since its taken
me months to get it to a point where all the defaults are how I like them
etc. I do not know if I can reinstall Outlook separately from Office.
Besides, from the Communities I've read, reinstalling Outlook does not seem
to help.

I would use Windows Mail, but I already use it for another account, and I
can't seem to get it to segregate Inboxes - that is, have my Outlook account
show up as a different Inbox in Windows Mail than the account I already use
Windows Mail for.

MAN I'VE HAD A LOT OF THINGS NOT WORK SINCE I'VE CHANGED COMPUTERS!

Try Help | Detect and Repair. Don't worry, it won't change your settings or
customizations.

I tried the Office Diagnostics, it ran through its various tests, on the last
item, which comprises of 14 tests, it said it found and repaired 1 item.

It didn't help.
