I was issued a laptop running XP pro and am using it with
Nikonview software and a Nikon 5megapix DigiCam.

Although I shut it down by the touchpad each time.
Frequently when I turn it back on, I am told that windows
has suffered a serious fault with an error code:

CCCode:1000008e BCP1:C0000005 BCP2:F9AACEE7
BCP3:F30B5934 BCP4:00000000 OSVer 5_1_2600
SP:0_0 Product 256_1

This was very inconvenient while I was flying disaster
relief after Isabel, and I cited it as one reason for
degraded performance on those missions.

Does anyone have any idea where the problem is??? The
software was all original, and all installed in accordance
with the Wiz!

I'm also getting a similar error message using XP tablet
with the same software/camera.

As these machines are used for Homeland Defense/Disaster
Relief, I do not dare expose them to the internet.

Larry, no easy solution here. Wondering the make and model
of your laptop...

1. If the XP software is OEM (preloaded by vendor) you may
want to speak with them regarding XP problems, depending
on what support they offer.

2. Since the problem is intermittent, it could be hardware-
related.

3. Test your machine, by starting it and shutting it down
in the IDENTICAL fashion about 20 times, keeping a log of
the exact error message and on which startup attempts it
appears.

4. You may want to search Google, using the model of your
laptop as one of the keywords, as well as XP and the exact
phrase used in the error message (minus the specific code
numbers, at least in the beginning.)

How did you shut down your computer? Did you use Hibernate? Some laptops are
prone to prolems with video drivers because you have to rely on the laptop
manufacturer for them are they can be tempremental. I have had many laptops
and most have trouble with the video. What make is yours and how old is it
roughly?
