Files that are required by Windows to run properly have
been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain
stability, Windows must restore the original versions of
the files

Insert your Windows XP Professional CD Service Pack 1 now.

This error message comes with three options

Option 1: Retry="The CD you provided is wrong. Please
insert the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 now."

Option 2: More Info="Possible reasons for this problem
(1) (You have inserted a wrong CD(insert a different
Windows product CD that the version installed).
(2) (The CD-ROM in your system is not function properly).

Option 3: Cancel="You chose not to restore the original
versions of the files. This may affect Windows stability.
Are you sure you want to keep the unrecongnized versions?"

I have checked information at the Q articles and it
suggests for Windows NT/2000 that there could be a
problem with the memory or files in the l386\lang
directory are not populated in the Dllcache folder.

It also suggest to examine the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVer
sion\Winlogon. WFP stores verified file versions in the
Dllcache folder on the hard disk.

The number of cached files is determined by the setting
of the SFCQuota value (the default size is 0xFFFFFFFF, or
400 MB). The administrator can make the setting for the
SFCQuota value as large or small as needed. Note that if
you set the SFCQuota value to 0xFFFFFFFF, the WFP feature
caches all protected system files (approximately 2,700
files).

It has 0xfffffff

What should I do since I do not have the CD?

Hi Robin,

Run an up to date AV scan on the system yet? This error can happen when you
get infected. Your system files are likely in an I386 subfolder under the
\Windows folder.
