Error Message in Outlook 2000

I receive the following message when attempting to send an e-mail: Server
Response 550 5.7.1 "Relaying not allowed: (emil address of intended
receiptant here) Account pop3.o2.ie SMTP Server smtp.o2.ie, Error Number
0x800ccc79

I can receive e-mail no bother

Any help Please!!!

Usually caused by not properly authenticating to the outgoing mail server.
 
Vince, thank you for the response. Yes, I am connected to the O2 network. I
have removed the link and reinstalled it as well but to no effect. o2 say it
is a 'fault' with Outlook!!!!

First I'll need to know what mode Outlook is using. Outlook 2000 has two.
Does your Tools menu contain an "Accounts" item or a "Services" item?
 
TWO MONTHS LATER ... Brian - I'm having the same issue; using Outlook 2K: My
'mode' uses Accounts.....

This indicates Internet Mail Only mode, but since you didn't include the
original problem, I have no idea how to help. State the problem again.
