Error Message Importing File

C

Carbon

Running Windows XP SP3.
First time user of MovieMaker.
Attempting to import a file of any type (.avi, .mpg, .mov), I receive a
message that the file has not been imported and "Coinitialize has not been
called."
Can someone explain this message and what can be done to import files.

Thank you
