Error Message F:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function'

Can someone please help with the above problem? I am using a Sony VAIO with
XP Pro O/S. Have had no problems with my CD-RW drive since purchasing the
computer in October 01, but suddenly I am getting the above error message
when I insert a blank CD into my CD-RW drive. No problem with playing audio
CDs or reading data CDs, just cannot burn CDs.

I checked the Microsoft site and read the KB article 315350 but I do not
have Roxio Easy CD Creator installed on my system so I don't believe this is
the cause.

I would be grateful for any suggestions and to what I should try. I should
mention that I am a computer user, not a technical expert

Try looking at the configuration of your CD-burning software. Or if you have time, look for a free burning software and try that. This way you'll know whether the problem is your CDWriter or your program. Good luck.
