working on my web page was going fine. I published page but needed to make
updates/corrections. In frontpage made the changes, everything looked fine
until I viewed in 'web preview'. There was no top or side page border! when
I returned to FP I see the border in design but not in view. Now when i
reopen the pages I get server errors like: Cannot create folder "_borders" ;
URL_borders/top.htm does not exit; cannot create folder_borders. Help??
please!

Did you have a web open or just a page, make sure that you have open the web first, then open your
pages, etc.

Yes i had the web open. I downloaded the page from ftp thinking i could
correct the promblem that way. But when i downloaded the page and opened in
FP it removed the side and top borders giving the same error messages.

Does the live/remote server has the FP extensions? If yes, then open the live/remote server directly
in FP and publish (File Menu | Publish Site/Web) back to your local machine, then make your change
and republish.

And if it does not have the FP SE and you must FTP,
FP should strip the design time tools out
(if it does not you need to edit it out in html/code view)
Recreate them

Thank you, but I tried those steps with no success. I published back to my
machine, but when it landed and I opened in FP it wiped out my borders,
giving the same error messages. I did however see something strange in my
web folder list. There were 4 htm pages that i didnot create - left.htm,
top.htm left and bottom.htm. I don't know how they got there. Is that
significant to my problem?

Thank you, but i tried really hard to understand what you were trying to tell
me. Could you put it in "FP for dummies version".

The 4 files you indicated, top.htm, left.htm, right.htm and bottom.htm are the 4 shared border files
that are created when you enable shared border in your web / site. They should be in the folder
named, _borders.

If you are seeing them in the root of your web / site, then you have some how corrupted your
installation of FP, suggest the do a repair/re-install of the FP, either from the FP Help Menu or
Control Panel Add/Remove.
