Lisa

I disabled the firewall and still getting an error message when trying
to use windows mail. these are the same settings i use on my main computer
with outlook and no problems.

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.comcast.net (1)', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Lisa

Change the Port 25 to Port 587. There is your problem.

Also if you are scanning your emails with your AV then disable the scanning.

Tried it Peter and got this message

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'mail.comcast.net (1)', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.1.0 Authentication required', Port: 587, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

I'm Having a weird problem. I can go to Craigs list which uses my yahoo
mail. I can click a sellers Blur hyper link and send them a question.
Their reply goes to my Windows Mail. How can I get their reply to go to my
yahoo mail that I sent it from????

Please do not hijack someone else's thread, start your own.

Before anything will work correctly you need to set your time zone.

You are 3 hours fast.

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

Unfortunately Yahoo webmail cannot be set as the default email service
under Vista. Your choices are:

a) Don't click on email links like the ones on Craigslist. Instead, copy the
link, then paste it into your Yahoo webmail.
b) Upgrade to a paid Yahoo account, which allows you to use Windows
Mail to handle those clicked links.
c) Set up your ISP-supplied email account ([email protected]) in
Windows Mail. That will also handle the clicked links.
