Quilljar

I have the following Error message window which pops up every time I
select
Internet Explorer. Can anyone suggest how I get rid of it please?

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Line 229
Char 1
Error Object doesn't support this property or method
Code 0
URL: res://C:\Program Files\Outlook
Express\msoeres.dll/frntpage.htm

I have looked at the path mentioned but with no luck.

Clear the browser's temporary file cache. Or pick a different home page
since that one is screwed up.

Reinstalling always helps that kinda stuff, but I doubt you want do
that
If of coarse the earlier post doesnt work.
How about trying a registry cleaner ..... like registry mechanic or
regcleaner

Please post a copy of the corresponding Error Report in Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

This sounds like a Scripting Error for Outllook Express, not Internet
Explorer.

Outlook Express starts with a blank screen

When opening Outlook Express.
( I never use IE, but I always get their names mixed- sorry)
Also, I only use OE for news groups never for email.

Quilly,

Assuming that you've completed the steps here
(http://windowsxp.mvps.org/oescript.htm), then see if the following advice
helps.

Of course? Reread your original post. "... every time I select Internet
Explorer." So how do you select IE from within OE?

URL: res://C:\Program Files\Outlook
Express\msoeres.dll/frntpage.htm

Which file did you look for? msoeres.dll or frontpage.htm? The .htm file
won't exist. It is retrieved from the .dll file.

Are you running any wrappers around OE, like OE-QuoteFix or Fido?

Hmm! That was the same link which was posted earlier by William Crawford..

Anyway, thanks for posting back.

posted <ebg>.

You probably don't want to know why I bottom post but here is a brief
explantion why I do.

I have been using Usenet for a quite a long time and generally top posting
is frowned upon the usenet community. I participate on other public and
private news servers where there charters specifically states - "No Top
Posting" - and therefore I bottom post here because it is just second nature
for me. If the thread continues with Top posting then I usually top post to
keep the thread in order. I have tried other news clients such as Free
Agent, Xananews, and a few others but I like how Outlook Express works.
Since I like using Outlook Express as my news client I did a reg edit that
allows for Bottom Posting.

[HKCU\Identities\{999C2D60-D066-425C-8F75-FDE592BFCE2A}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\5.0]
Name: Reply At End
Type: DWORD
Value: 1

Now the "{999C2D60-D066-425C-8F75-FDE592BFCE2A}" will probably different on
your machine since it is used for identities.

William

I don't think I will follow your lead. I prefer to be assertive
and ensure my message gets to the recipient. Bottom
posts get buried, especially where people forget to snip.

Does the edit apply to all identities or can you make it
apply to some and not others?

Then William you can be fashionable in usenet by using
one identity and in Microsoft newsgroups by using a
different identity <g>.

my nerves.

I have thought of this before but I decided not to implement it. I should
have seen this coming when you asked if it applies to all or one identity.
