Error loading operating system?

Ok, same thing, same computer, HP 864N. It won't install using the recovery
CDs and now it won't take my Windows XP Home OEM cd installation. After it
copies all the files it says Error loading operating system.

Your OEM Windows XP CD is most probably tied to the motherboard of the system that it was
shipped with, and will not install on any other system...

If I try a Win XP Pro retail CD and the same thing occurs, what should I try
next?

Do a Clean Install: When you get to the part of the install where setup tells you that
Windows XP is already installed on the system: Press the ESC key, and opt to remove that
partition (usually C:\), then create that partition again and format it, then continue
with the install. Make sure you backed up all of your data files, because the partition
will be wiped clean. You will have to reinstall any software. You will also have to
install any drivers which are not on the Windows XP Pro CD. You can download the drivers
at the HP site, or if you've installed some hardware which is not HP, and don't have the
CD for that hardware, you can download the drivers at the web site of the maker of that
hardware.

I did this and it still doesn't work. I've repartitioned the drive within
Windows using another computer. I've done it using the setup CD. None
works. I'm really getting frustrated. I read something regarding the BIOS
not being able to read the size of the disc however the original computer
came with the same size but the original disc was partitioned to have one
recovery partition so the hard drive was smaller than the entire 160gb. I'm
going to try to partition it that way and see if that works.
