Error Installation Failed - C:\$WIN_NT$.~ls\I386\asms

While installing the full version of xp on a new pc, I
converted it to ntfs and I am now in a loop that I cannot
get out of. I keep getting the following message:
Error
Installation Failed
C:\$WIN_NT$.~ls\I386\asms

Error Message: The manifest file does not begin with the
required tag and format information.

Fatal Error
One of the components that windows needs to continue
setup could not be installed.

I checked for similar errors but only found solutions for
anyone upgrading to windows....

Can someone provide me with some major assistance as soon
as possible? It will be greatly appreciated.

Damita,

This error is usually associated with a bad CD. If you burned this
yourself, make sure you're using the newest version of your burning
software, and try again.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I am using the
original cd. Hopefully, the problem is easily solvable.
