Error in <unknown>

I have windows Me and explorer 6.0. Whenever I try to open
internet explorer I ger the following msg:"Explorer has
caused an error in <unknown>. Explorer will now close. If
you continue to experience this problem try restarting
your computer"
Needless to say restarting does not solve the problem.
The computer had virus(es), but is now completely virus
free.
Can anyone help? Thanks

IE and/or Windows Explorer errors <unknown> are generally
caused by Spyware.
Download and run either Lavasoft's Ad-aware or SpyBot S&D.
Ad-aware here: http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download/
SpyBot here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
Install either, update *immediately* and run a scan much like you would
your anti-virus scanner.

Please post back your findings.
