I get an error message when I plug in new USB devices - Error in Newdev.dll Missing entry: Client Side Install. I recently got this message when trying to install an Epson C84 Printer. I tried copying the Newdev.dll from another WinXP system into my System32 folder but the problem does not go away. How do I fix this?

I also get an error message when trying to shut down a device like a USB Jump drive. When I right click in the taskbar to unplug/disable the device, I get the following - Error in hotplug.dll Missing entry: HotplugSafeRemovalNotification.
The green arrow icon does disappear allowing me to remove the item but why the error message?

Hi,
Put the XP CD into the CD drive and then try the following:

Start>Run - then type in "expand X:\i386\newdev.dl
C:\windows\system32\newdev.dll" - without the quotes

[where X=your CD Rom]

and same is applicable for hotplug.dl,just put hotplug.dl instead of
newdev.dl
