Error in FM20.dll when inserting userform

Hello NG,

I have a problem - excel is shutting down everytime I try to insert a
UserForm to my project. Even if I open an Excel-File which contains a
Userform Excel crashes. Message says it's fm20.dll which causes the error.

I am running WinXP SP2 and Excel XP / Excel 2003 (both are crashing with
the same error).

I would try first a Detect And Repair, and if this doesn't work,
re-installing Excel.

go to your temp directory and delete any files with .exd extension in that
directory and any directories below it (such as VBE).

In Win XP, mine was at:
C:\Documents and Settings\OgilvyTW\Local Settings\Temp

In fact, close all applications and delete any files in the temp directory
and in any directories below it.

I don't know if you still have the problem with fm20.dll, but I'm right now
having a similar one. I've also tried the possible solutions in this thread
without success.

PROBLEM
1. From an office 2000 application (Word or Excel) I open the Visual Basic
editor by pressing ALT + F11
2. I try to insert a user form, selecting the option UserForm from the menu
Insert.
3. The application crashes with the error: Microsoft Excel for Windows has
detected a problem and must close.
When you look at the details of the error report you see under ModName the
fm20.dll and under offset 0000f3be.
CONDITIONS
This problem has been detected using both Office 2000 Standard SR1 and
Office 2000 Standard SP3. The "afected" versions of the DLL are:
fm20.dll version 2.1.6927.1 in Office 2000 SR1
fm20.dll version 2.1.9922.1 in Office 2000 SP3
My system is Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

I've been searching TechNet and the Web without finding the solution.
I've tried several things: uninstalling office, changing the version of
office...
