Thank you, dr sysop!

i deleted all files in windows/prefetch and rebooted my
system. but then the same error message appeared: "error
in helpex32.exe". i searched for the file but it did not
exist anymore. i rebooted again and the same error
message appeared

ok it maybe part of a program u had once installed. try this start, run type
sfc /scannow you will need the cd & see if that works. or try a program like
norton utilities to fix it last resort do a repair install from cd.

HI,

Start/run msinfo32, expand hte software environment and click on the startup
programs. Locate the line that loads helpex32.exe (it's not WinXP file by
the way) and make note of where it is loading from. This is where you need
to go to remove the startup reference. If you are unsure of how to proceed,
please post back with the startup location for further assistance.
