I'm having a terrible time figuring out my problem of over a month.
I've been everywhere and read everything I was directed to read, but I can't
figure it all out and it's beginning to just confuse me the more I read and
try what's suggested.
I have Windows (Home) XP w/SP2. Computer is two yrs. old.
My event viewer is telling me that:
Windows saved NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE registry
while an application or service was still using the registry during logoff.
The memory used the the user's registry has not been freed. The registry
will be
unloaded when it is no longer in use.
This is often caused by services running as a user account. Try configuring
the services to
run in either Local serice or Network Service Account.

It is listed at Event ID 1517 if that's of any help.
Let me prefice by saying that I am the only person who uses this machine and
there
is one user, which is me. I don't have a guest account turned on and I can't
remember a time
where anything asked me to change accounts or whatever.
How do I find out what is holding the memory?
I also don't understand how to configure the services to run in either Local
or Network Service.
I know this is alot to ask, but I've spent over a month trying to figure
this out working for hours
every day and I'm at my wit's end. As you can tell, I don't give up easily.
The more I read , the more confusing it is
however.
I've reformatted my machine twice, ran every spyware program I could get my
hands on and
purchased two additonal programs to boot. My machine is clean as a whistle,
so I know that
has nothing to do with it. I think I did all that unecessarily to try and
solve my problem. I stumbled
into the Event viewer before I found the above error and could have kicked
myself in the butt
for not finding it before doing two complete reformattings of this
contraption. I also called two
local computer shops explaining my problem and asked if I could hand this
machine over to them
to figure it out at whatever price they wanted and they both told me they
had no idea how to fix it. Some computer shops they are IMO, but at least
they didn't take me to "the bank" trying.
If anyone has any idea what I can try, please.........throw those ideas my
way. I'm getting desperate to
find an answer.
