I ran diagnostics on my dell dimension computer and found error code
OFOO:136C -- IED device failed, optical drive. What does this mean and what

That's your cd or dvd

The Error you are seeing is do to you are not putting the CD while testing,
where the Humming noise coming from, is it the cooling Fan clouting with Dust
or some wires is on touching the Fan and causing this Hum noise?.
Open the case and try to see if the Wires (Data or Power cables ) touching
or mounted on the Fan, while there you can Blow the Dust out by Compressed
air can or gently by blowing Air into it.

Also Run the diagnostic Tools on your Hard drive by downloading it from the
Manufacturer website for your Hard drive specs, extract and make a Floppy or
CD/DVD and Run it on start Up to make sure the HDD is Healthy.

Thanks. But my CD drive seems to work well. I just tested it again and it's
ok.
One problem I'm having is an occasional, intermtitent hum inside the PC
tower. Could this be related and if, so, what does it mean?
