Error Code 800B0100 when downloading SP1 for 64bit Vista

Hi,

I've tried several times to download the new SP1 for 64bit Vista through
Windows Update.
After a few minutes I get the message that the update failed and that the
error found was "Code 800B0100".
I can't find any info about this and don't know how I can get the SP1 to
download and install.
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

I have this exact Error Message myself. I spent 3 hours on the phone Friday
night with Microsoft tech assistance, after 3 hours when I said I would just
format the drive and reinstall from scratch I was begged not to as I am not
the only person having this problem and they need to fix it. I spent another
3 hours last night on the phone and again was begged not to reinstall. I
just got off the phone with Technical assistance (I won't be spending 3
hours tonight) they are escallating this to the Development team to try to
fix. This is pitiful, I spent $400 (bought the full install when it first
came out because I wanted the deal on 2 upgrades Home Premiums for $50 each)
and I am in the twilight zone here this entire mess reminds me of
Millenium.. Right now I have a computer with no firewall, no antivirus, no
sound driver, no video driver because Microsoft wants to fix this problem, I
will give it until tomorrow night and I will reinstall from scratch I will
let the people know who are having problems if it works.. I once read that
Microsoft only builds good software every other time.. 3.11 worked fine, 95
sucked, 98 was solid, milenium sucked, xp was solid, vista is starting to
become a headache, I think Windows 7 will be great, when is that coming out?
I hope soon!

Thanks, Mark, for your help.

We downloaded the complete SP1 (almost 743 MB) and tried the installation in
Safe Mode ... but it again stopped and gave me the error message code
0x800B100.
From what Bucko writes, I think we're going to wait with the installation of
SP1 until there's a fix available. Our computer runs pretty good so far
(without the SP1) and I hope it will run for a few more days/weeks.

But many thanks for your help and info.

Sounds interesting. WHERE will you post your hopefully positive message?

Good luck!
