error code 0x80004005

I receive this error code 0x80004005 when trying do a hardware test in voice
setup. After this I get Windows cannot execute dpvsetup.exe. Use Add\remove
progs. in Control panel. This is a Dell Deminsion 2400.
Can anyone give me a clue? I searched the Knowledge base and came up empty,
except for this KB article which I tried with no luck....
