"Error-Checking" Error

Hi there,

my HD seems to be working a little too hard with slow
access times of late, so I decided to use the Error-
Checking tool. It said it needed exclusive access, would
I like to schedule it after next reboot? After rebooting
it started up and then said "cannot open volume for direct
access".

Could anybody please help with this one? Many thanks.

Try the Error checking Tool in Safe Mode. On Startup hold down F8,
and from the Menu select Safe Mode.
