Error: Cannot Save While File Is In Use By Another Process

I am using MS Word 2007 to open an .XML file generated by MS InfoPath 2007.
The file opens fine and XML tags show up fine. I am able to save the file
the first time as normal. However, when I attempt to save thereafter, I get
the following error message:

-------------------------------------------------
You cannot save while the file is in use by another process. Try saving the
file with a new name.

Show Help >>>

This message can appear if another program is currently using the file that
you are editing. For example, if a table or paragraph in your document was
linked to by another application and that application is currently open and
running (possibly on another computer or an application running on your
computer that you cannot see). This can also happen whenever you are in a
shared environment and file locking is enabled by another application.
Depending on your situation, your options are:
• Save the file by using a different file name.
• Close the other application that has the lock on the file.
• Wait until the other user closes the application that has a lock on your
file.
