Error: Cannot create folder "archivedstats"...?

K

Kenneth

Howdy,

I run FP 2003 SP2...

I made a few very modest changes to some of our web pages,
and then clicked to publish changed pages.

Immediately, I got an error:

Cannot create folder "archivedstats" and the process
stopped.

Next, I thought to try publishing all pages, but got the
same error.

After several search attempts, I have no idea what the error
is telling me, and would welcome any help with this hassle.

Sincere thanks,

Hi again,

I have continued to experiment, but am still baffled:

When I said I had searched, I meant Google, and the MS
Knowledgebase. Neither found "archivedstats."

I then searched my own system, and, indeed, there is such a
folder.

To experiment, I renamed it archivedstatsOLD, and tried to
publish again.

This time, I got the error:

Server error: Cannot create folder archivedstatsOLD

So, it would appear that the error is oddly written in that
the folders exist. More likely Frontpage cannot write to the
folder for some reason.

In any case, I am still stuck.

Thanks again,

?

.._..

If you don't know what the folder is, why are you trying to publish it?

How bout making a backup copy (stick it on CD so you know it's off your
computer) and DELETING it.

Then republish.

The folder might be something that's used in the web by your host (ask
them!).

Hello again,

Indeed, that did the trick...

I deleted the folder (which, by the way, was empty), and
tried to publish again.

All went well.

Very sincere thanks,
