Marcia

I am trying to copy data files to a CD. Everything seems
to work OK until the actual writing and then I get a
message stating that

"Cannot Complete the CD Writing Wizard" - no explanation
of what went wrong. I have gone through about 20 CDs
trying to copy data files. 2 out 20 times everything
works like a charm and then for some reason I cannot
write to the CD.

Any ideas on what the problem is? I am using XP.

Hello Marcia!
Have you updated your CD-Burning software?
Disable antivirus software prior to burning.
Try to burn at a slower speed

I tried disabling my antivirus software and i get the
same error message.

I am using the CD- Burning software that came with XP.
Does MS have an upgrade? I've never seen one. Or do I
have purchase a third party upgrade?

Modify/Create the Value Name [NoCDBurning] according to the Value Data
listed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: NoCDBurning

Exit Registry and Reboot

Enable/Disable CD Burning for the Local Machine

Modify/Create the Value Name [NoCDBurning] according to the Value Data
listed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: NoCDBurning

Should I set the values to 0 or to 1?

Also under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\policies\Explorer

I do not have the Explorer folder. Should I create this
folder or just put the new key under policies?

I get the same msg. when I burn a CD however when I open
the CD I just burned I find that it copied just fine.

XPs CD burning capability is very limited. Get a separate CD burning
program. You will be much happier.
And it sounds like the expense of turning your CDs into coasters will soon
pay for your burning program.
