"Error applying transforms"

I trying to remove a currently installed program.

When using the Add/Remove Program applet from the Control
Panel, The Windows Installer gives me the following error
dialog box:

Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified
transfom paths are valid.

I have Installer Versioner 2.0.2600.1183 installed.

I'm trying to remove an earlier version of IBM Update
Connector from my ThinkPad and replace it with a newer
version.

Any help is greatly appreaciated.
