Error adding Network Place - FTP site

I was hoping someone can assit.

I am trying to add a FTP site through the Add Network Place Wizard. I select
the option to "Choose another network location" and try to enter in a FTP
address (the proper way ftp://ftp.abc123.com) but get an error message when
trying to continue: "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid.
Please choose another".
I am able to do this from the same machine by going to IE but believe
something is messed up with the OS and/or network card, etc. I haven't been
able to find anything on this. I can add this FTp site on other machines with
no issue so I believe this is isolated to this one machine. Can anyone help?

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 w/ IE 7. Thanks.

I too have the exact same problem. I even tested using the ftp.microsoft.com
syntax as per the 'helpful' prompt but got the same error message. Im using
Xp Pro on a wireless networked laptop

If I use IE7 I can access my FTP (and Microsoft FTP) site but can't open it
in Windows Explorer from the Page menu, I just get another error message
saying Cannot open site in Windows Explorer.

Strange - I can update the FTP site from my desktop (XP Home) that is on the
same network

Anyone got any ideas???

Thanks

Steve
