Prakash,

have you installed Service Pack 2? You can find out by
right-clicking My Computer, then selecting Properties. If
Service Pack 2 is installed, it should say so on the information
screen.

It could help to have the precise error messages, particularly
the error numbers, from the event log.

information page it's showing Service pack 1.

in the event log i';m getting following error

Please have a look at
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Networking_problems_after_installing_Service_Pack_2.
That article refers to Service Pack 2, but the symptoms look
sufficiently similar to give it a try anyway.

You can use the fixdb.bat batch file. Just double-click on it,
don't heed the security warnings and run it on your computer. It
may well fix your problem. If it doesn't, at least it doesn't do
any harm either.

Prakash,

oh, that's a pretty badly damaged system. Does the following
article apply?

You Cannot Create a Network Connection After You Restore Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329441

The next thing that comes to my mind is a repair installation
from a full retail install CD of Windows XP, followed by
installing Service Pack 2 after everything has been tested and
found working.
