Error 678

When I try to connect to the internet I am getting an
Error 678 saying that the remote sever failed to
respond. If I try on another PC using the same line it
works fine. The offending PC is a Toshiba Satalite
2410. Brand new Modem and using Windows XP with SP1.
Any ideas how to get this pc connected?

Hi Marko:

I spend all of yesterday on this problem with SBC Yahoo and with the
manufacturer of my Toshiba laptop computer. As soon as I called SBC
Yahoo the tech support people said, "oh oh, the dread error 678." I
spent 4 hours with them and they couldn't fix it. I completely
reinstalled my XP software, deleting all my content, and that didn't
fix it either. Finally someone told me to go out and circumvent the
problem by getting a wi fi router kit and installing it. I did and I'm
running fine again.
