Error 403 Forbidden - Access Denied by Access Control List

Harroguk

Hi guys
Last night I was setting up a LAN for my sister and came across this
problem...

Basically one of the PC's works fine for browsing the web, the other
comes up with the message 403 forbidden Access Denied By Access Control

List for every single page that you try and browse to.

I have successfully managed to PING google.com so the internet
connection is there and is working however the browser (IE6) seems to
be having the problem. I have returned everything to defaults but it
doesnt seem to help.

Cheers for any help/pointers people can give.

Do you have a hardware firewall/router? Sounds like it is blocking pages for
her and allowing them for you.

Hello Harroguk.
I have exactly the same problem. My desktop works fine but my Laptop will
not do anything but bring up this error message. Can you say whether you have
solved the problem and how. Hope you can help me. I have a Linksys54G Gateway
a Gericom laptop and a Sony Desktop

Aparently it is todo with trying to browse through a proxy server that
you dont have access to (in my case freeserve) if you go to your
connection settings and tell it not to browse the wewb through a proxy
then the error will disappear and you will be able to browse again.

You are right !!. I have solved the problem by accessing my connection
settings in Internet Explorer and removing the settings installed previously
for a dial-up connection to Wanadoo. Thanks for your help Cincotorres
