When the user clicks on the submit button, the data is actually stored in the
form_results.csv file, but a FrontPage Error page is returned: FrontPage
Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster. Webmaster: please see
the server's application event log for more details.

When I check the application event log, there is a warning message:

Error#20002 Message: Cannot open file "form_results.csv" for writing.

Thank you for any suggestions you have!

There is a problem with the permissions, you need to run a server health check and allow FP to fix
the permissions, etc.

Assuming the form_results.csv file is in the _private folder, have your host
make sure that the _private folder and the form_results.csv file have
"server write" permissions set on them.

I don't know exactly what to ask for "a server health check". What does that
mean?

Steve, the server has complete rights (read, write, modify, etc) to both the
folder and the file. Is there something different that I should check about
rights? Thank you for your help!

Just what Thomas said about having them run a server health check.

What exactly is a server health check? I don't know what to ask them to do.
Thank you!

I'm not trying to be flippant, but simply tell your server admin to open
"server administration" and run a server health check on the server for the
web site.

They "should" know what that means.

You ask them to run a "Server Health Check". If they do not
understand that, it's time to get a new host - quickly.

The server health check scans through the folders and files.
correcting permissions as it goes, as well as making sure all
necessary FPextensions files are present and functioning.

Thank you - he just did that and the responses were all "No problems in this
area". Is there something special that needs done for FrontPage?

Have them run a check on the FrontPage Extensions.

I've tried to open a new thread question but window won't open so I'll try
here. The problem i'm having is when i'm finished updating a page and hit
save I get this message: Server error: cannot open file for writting. This
seems to happen on every page no matter what catagory. What's my problem? How
do I fix? I'm useing frontpage 2003. Thanks,Trainmaster

1) verify your server hosted space is not at capacity
2) have your host run a server health check including a FP SE health check
