error 0x8007007E when configuring HTTP Server Connection

Hi together from Berlin, Germany!

I configured Outlook 2003 Standard to connect to Exchange Server 2003 using
http connection (not outlook anywhere but internet connection because there
is a restrictive fw between client and server) to receive incoming mails.

OWA from the client to the same exchange server is no problem.
telnet to port 80 also gives positiv results.

but when trying to send/receive mails with outlook I get error 0x8007007E.
That's bad!
What I do not understand: With netstat -an I cannot see any try to connect
to the Exchange server. So it seems that the client doesn't try to connect.
I tried IP address also to prevent any lookup problems.

What's going wrong????

Appreciate any helpful hints

Gernot

I get confused as more as I am looking at it...

I now configured Outlook via http (Outlook anywhere).
What I see is that the client tries to connect to the server using port 135.
I expect the connecting should be done using port 80...
