Epson Status Monitor ??

Installed my new Epson R1800 a couple of days ago.

The printer prints, but Epson Status Monitor can't connect
to it... it searches for a minute or two and then gives up.

This would be a nuisance, except that, the status monitor
is needed to see the levels of the ink carts.

Anyone have any ideas on this? This is a Windoze 2000
machine, generally stable, lots of memory, etc.

I've done everything I know... running out of ideas.

What version of status monitor are you trying to use? Status monitor has
been incorporated in the driver for Epson printers and is not a separate
program. Go to the Epson site and get the latest driver.

No idea about the R1800 but it's only recently that Epson started
putting the status monitor in the driver and the first time I've seen
this is in the D88 (UK's version of the C88). All my older models, R200,
R300, C86, etc... have had a seperate status monitor.

Just thought I'd note that as it might confuse someone who doesn't have
the latest kit.
