Epson Photo 960 comments wanted

Am considering purchasing a refurbed 960. Any comments about this
printer appreciated.

I have an Epson 960 Photo,it lasted 54.5 weeks before it went belly up.It
had constant clogging since day 1.It could not even go 24 hours between uses
without clogging.It finally clogged so bad it would not clear,even when a
printer repair place worked on it!Since it was a couple of weeks past the
warranty period,Epson said "too bad"!By the way,I bought all my ink straight
from Epsons website!I now have an R800,it has been much better.I would not
have bought another Epson,but I need cd printing capability.My Epson 2200
went bad within 2 weeks of the 960.Epsons repair center gave me a $400+
quote for repairs on the 2 printers.

I have had an EPSON 960 Photo Printer for about 2 years now and it is
an absolutely fantastic photo printer. I have had no clogging problems
whatsoever (always turn the printer off when not using it from the
printer). I always print through Adobe Photoshop using the EPSON
supplied ICC profiles for the specific paper that I am printing on and
the results are outstanding. I prefer to print on either EPSON Matte
Paper Heavyweight or EPSON Premium Luster Paper rather than EPSON
Premium Gloss Paper. The CD printing feature works fine and the roll
paper function works best with A4 Premium Luster paper (8.3") rather
than 4" Premium Glossy paper.

I paid $349 for my printer and it is well worth it. If you can get a
refurbished unit for less than this, I certainly recommend it.

If the problems you are running into with the Epson is clogging, that
can usually be resolved (email me and ask for my Epson Cleaning Manual)
no cost.

Some Epson printers may have manufacturing tolerances that are off and
cause the printer not to dock the head correctly, and this can lead to
clogging due to dried heads. Some Epson printers will not manifest this
problem at all.

If you live is a very dry climate, the problem is more likely to occur.
